How come when I receive coupons from the grocery store (Vons) the coupons are never for the items I've just purchased? Many times they are for similar items, but a different brand, and sometimes for items I've never purchased.
I realize the store is trying to promote different items they want me to buy becuase they have some other incentive to make me want to switch brands, but if I would just receive coupons for the items I buy regularly, I would use them the next time I shopped.
Similar compliants about the ads/suggestions that populate Amazon whenever I visit their site. I know they are promoting items THEY want me to buy, but wouldn't it make more sense to promote items I want to buy?
Will all this data gathering and niche focused advertising ever directly relate to me?
